1. Ask for help

If you are a renter, you may want to contact your building’s administration or landlord. They usually have a spare key to your home and are relatively close. Even if locksmith services are cheap, calling a professional is the only way to get back into your house.

2. Look for windows and doors that are unlocked

Insert the card between the door’s frame and the door’s handle. Push and wiggle the card while holding it perpendicular to the door. As you press, try to slide the latch away from the doorjamb by bending the card away from the doorknob. While pressing your weight against the door, turn the card.

Insert the card between the door’s latch and the door frame. You can re-enter your home with the card between the lock and the doorframe.

5. Remove the door handle

As long as your door’s deadbolt is unlocked, you should be able to enter by removing the doorknob. You can find a tiny slot or hole next to the doorknob. Put some force on a thin metal object (a paper clip or bobby pin that has been straightened up) and jam it into the opening.

You should encounter opposition. Continue pressing the metal tool as far as possible into the hold while pulling and turning the doorknob with the other hand. Continue to apply pressure while simultaneously tugging and twisting until the doorknob is dislodged.
